As onshore infrastructure work continues apace on the largest consented tidal energy project in Wales, industry specialist, Claire Palmer joins the leadership team, as Stakeholder Director.
Claire brings with her a wealth of experience and contacts from the marine sector. She will lead on liaising with supply chain, developers and skills and training, to ensure the best opportunities for Wales are achieved, as the site develops.
Originally from Pembrokeshire, Claire chose to relocate to north Wales a year ago, due to her love of the outdoor environment. Having worked on infrastructure projects from port development to marine renewables she brings an added strategic dimension to a growing team.
As well as commercial relationships Claire will be working to further engagement with community and special interest groups on the island, across Wales and further afield.
On her appointment, Morlais CEO, Andy Billcliff said: “We are delighted to welcome Claire. Her energy and experience will be an asset to us as we deliver this unique tidal energy scheme. With construction of the substation and cabling routes well underway, we are looking forward to 2023 when work will begin offshore and collaboration with our stakeholders will become even more critical to the success of the project.”
Claire added: “I’m excited to join the excellent team at Morlais and look forward to being part of this scheme which will see clean electricity generated off the coast of Anglesey. I am passionate about the marine environment and the positive impact it can have, as we face future climate and energy challenges. My previous roles have been focussed on maximising benefits for Wales and I look forward to contributing to further developing opportunities for this region.”
