Morlais launches graduate careers
Two new members have recently joined Menter Môn's energy team as part of the new Marine Futures internship scheme. In a programme funded by the Crown Estate, Dylan Moses and Rhys Bowen will work on the data associated with the Marine Characterisation Research Project (MCRP) during their time with Menter Môn.
The programme is designed to give graduates interested in a career in the marine environment the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience across a range of sectors. Both have already been busy familiarising themselves with the tidal sector locally and have had an insight into the work of key partners.
Fiona Parry, skills and training project officer at Menter Môn Morlais, said: "We are delighted to be part of this scheme and to welcome Dylan and Rhys to the team. Having only been with us for just over a week, they've had an introduction to all the projects, had the opportunity to see turbines at our partner, Hydrowing's unit in M-SParc, Gaerwen and to visit our tidal scheme substation, Morlais near Ynys Lawd (South Stack).
"Their work with us will focus on analysing wildlife data from the MCRP. Both have backgrounds in marine biology and ocean sciences and hope to pursue a career in the industry once they complete the programme."
As well as Menter Môn, partners include M-SParc and Natural Resources Wales with the project managed by the North Wales Wildlife Trust. Each partner organisation provides skills development opportunities in specialist areas including, marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, renewable energy development, marine policy, and community engagement.
