Morlais welcomes the Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Energy and Planning, to the Morlais site

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Energy and Planning, to the Morlais site to launch the Renewable Energy Sector Deal, which is the Welsh Government's new agreement to unlock the full potential of renewable energy in Wales. The sector deal is an important step in accelerating the growth of renewable energy in Wales and across the UK. For Morlais, it recognizes the important role that tidal energy schemes can play in strengthening energy security, creating jobs, and providing long-term economic benefits to local communities such as Anglesey.

It also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between industry, the government and local partners in order to unlock the sector's full potential. We were proud to be able to show how strong partnerships between the public sector, the private sector and our local communities are very important specifically in terms of benefits to the community through jobs, the supply chain and income for local schemes. We look forward to continuing to work together and building on what has already been achieved to ensure that Morlais continues to create a positive impact for Anglesey and Wales.

Dafydd Gruffydd, Managing Director of Menter Môn, said:

"The Renewable Energy Sector Deal is an important step in accelerating the growth of renewable energy in Wales and across the UK. Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Energy and Planning said:

"Our ambition is to become a global leader in renewable energy, creating jobs and green growth to make families in Wales more prosperous and to help with the cost of living. "The current conflict in the Middle East has further highlighted the importance of energy independence. Our Renewable Energy Sector Deal will provide a strong foundation for the future provision of renewable energy - for the benefit of our economy, our environment and energy security."

"The Morlais project is a strong example of how an ongoing partnership can unlock Wales' natural energy resources and convert them into permanent economic opportunities for local communities and businesses."
